Digital chipping status The red icon(s) next to each car refer to its digital situation, i.e. is it plug-ready, does it already have the chip installed, or does it need retro-fitting with the saloon or single seater chip, etc.

DPR This is a digital plug ready car, you need to have the relevant digital plug-in module to go with it if you want to run it on a digital layout.

Chip installed Car already has a digital chip in it and will run on Scalextric analogue or digital. Not many cars have the chip pre-installed these days, due to the DPR option. Originally, Scalextric released cars in analogue format, and some alternative versions with the digital chip installed, suffixed D, e.g. C2752 (analogue) and C2752D (digital) to indicate a factory installed chip. Some retailers (not us) are now using the D suffix to indicate they, the retailer have installed a DPR chip in a car prior to sale (e.g. C2810 and C2810D). Hornby do not sell solo cars with DPR chips already installed, only those cars released in sets will have a DPR chip already in them. C2810D (for example) does not exist as an official product number. So beware if you see a D suffix on other web sites, relating to a DPR car, it usually means the retailer has inserted the DPR chip and removed the analogue module, or has broken up a digital set with the car's chip already factory-installed. If you want to run that car as an analogue car against other analogue cars, you might prefer to not have the chip in it, as this can give you a performance disadvantage against other analogue cars. On our site, we don't pre-install DPR chips unless customers ask, and any cars we have for sale which have been digitally chipped with the retro-fit kit by us will be denoted with a lower case "d".

Use saloon chip Car has no digital chip in it, it is suggested you use the saloon chip to retro-chip the car. Requires soldering, or use our chipping service.

Use F1 chip Car has no digital chip in it, it is suggested you use the F1 chip to retro-chip the car. Requires soldering, or use our chipping service.

Specialist chipping Car may need special treatment to be chipped for Scalextric Sport Digital, because of its size, shape, wiring, etc. Usually means LED hole needs making in underpan, actual chip itself needs filing down, existing wiring removed, and/or bodywork modification of some sort, e.g. to rear seats, passenger compartment, driver's legs, footwell etc. which can affect long term car value from a collector's point of view, if you're bothered about that sort of thing.

Standard features The black icons represent the standard manufacturer features.

Magnatraction Car has magnet installed in underpan (applies to most cars).

Easyfit braids Car uses the slide on braid disc (applies to most cars).

Super resistant Car has a super resistant body, ideal for younger drivers and novices.

Front lights Car has xenon effect front lights powered from the track.

Front lights (not xenon) Some cars still have bulb-style front lights.

Rear lights Car has rear lights powered from the track.

Siren and roof light Car has working siren and roof light powered from the track.

Drift blade Car is fitted with the drift blade to enable 360 degree spins.

Weathered effect Car has a weathered (muddy) paint effect.

4 wheel drive Car has four wheel drive.
