Competing with Amazon Being a small family business it's hard to compete with Amazon and other big retailers on price but we do our best, and you should find the prices of sets on this site in the same ball-park. We've had to stop using Amazon Marketplace to sell through, because their selling fees are just too high. We do however offer technical support for all our Scalextric products so you can buy safe in the knowledge you can drop us an email or phone if you have any queries either pre- or post-sale.

Shipment packaging of boxed sets An important note about set packaging . In spite of our best efforts, very, very occassionally , a boxed set will arrive at a customer with perhaps a slightly squashed box lid corner or other slight crush mark, regardless of having used the courier-recommended thick cardboard outers and/or void fill to pack out the shipping box. The internal trays, packaging and products that make up the set are not affected and everything works fine. Making set parcels larger so that the entire set box is surrounded by filler, inside the shipping box (to protect the set box from impacts from any direction) would make the shipping volume so big that the parcel could not be economically sent (or the set price would have to be increased). Our view on set boxes is that they can usually be fairly invisibly returned to their original shape if they have taken an unfortunate knock in transit, and in any case, the "presentation" aspect of the box is over and done with fairly quickly. The box appearance becomes immaterial once the set has been opened and assembled. However if you are particularly concerned to avoid all risk of any such possible issues and ensure your set box is in pristine condition, we recommend you do not order over the internet but pick up the set you need in person from your local retailer, inspect it on collection and take it home yourself. As stated earlier, damage to set boxes in transit is thankfully very rare and is not normally a cause for concern. But worth mentioning in case this is an important issue for you. If you do receive a parcel which looks like it has received a knock in transit, please check everything inside is OK and let us know if anything is broken - we can then sort out repair, replacement or refund as necessary.
About F1 Scalextric cars These cars go pretty quick and have rapid acceleration, so you need quick reactions to any loss of traction, slides and so on. The wings and other fine detail on non-"Start" range cars can be lost on impact so may be better suited to the more experienced driver.
Obtaining a Scalextric set We don't routinely keep large supplies of sets in stock all year due to lack of space but we can get them in to to order at any time - just contact us via the link at the top of the page. Also please note we are not a "Scalextric Collectors' Centre" so cannot offer the limited edition cars and sets that are only available through those outlets. However Hamleys (see link below) should have them. If you are unable to find the set you want on this site, please try the links below to major retailers who usually carry a lot of stock and may also have some special discounts.
Play.com Play.com are based in the Channel Islands and offer a wide selection of entertainment products (including Scalextric sets) with free shipping . Scalextric is usually in their "Gadgets" section or you can type "Scalextric" in the search box. Hard to find cheaper.
Argos Argos are well worth a look as each year they often have some special exclusive sets and car packs only available through their stores. Again a general search on Scalextric will bring up everything they have. Available for collection or delivery.
Toys R Us Toys R Us also carry a fair bit of Scalextric and are probably the best place to find all the Micro Scalextric sets including the special character editions.
Amazon Amazon also supply a selection of Scalextric sets, available with free delivery. This is also the place to visit for Scalextric books such as The Slot Car Handbook .
Hamleys Williams F1 team sponsors, Hamleys, are not the cheapest place to buy your slot car sets by any means, but are included here because like Argos they do commission some "Hamleys specials" from time to time and this is the only place you will find these sought-after bits of kit. And the top floor of Hamleys in London's Regent Street is always a fun place to visit for anyone interested in slot cars, remote control, model railways and all that kind of thing. Hamleys also offer Scalextric Collector Centre limited edition cars.
Scalextric starter sets for kids We get a number of enquiries from parents who want to start their children off with a Scalextric set. All analogue 1/32 scale Scalextric sets could be upgraded to digital at a later date, so no worries about having to throw it away and start again from scratch for digital. And once upgraded with a digital chip, cars that were previously analogue can run on either analogue or digital tracks. Please note that the powerbase and hand throttles from analogue sets are not compatible with the digital format; you would replace them with the ones from the conversion kit. All Scalextric sets are designed for UK operation at 230V and come with a 3-pin 13 amp plug fitted.
Sport World sets Unfortunately Scalextric have discontinued support for Sport World internet racing which was not proving popular enough to remain viable. However if you would like to try an alternative form of internet racing, see the "Live For Speed" section of our modelmotorracing.com site .
Soldering Should you require a soldering iron to fit the chips into your old cars, we recommend looking through those offered by Maplin , especially the small pocket battery or lighter fuel powered ones which are ideal for the job.
Power supply All sets sold here are equipped for UK 230V operation with a standard UK 3 pin plug supplied. For overseas customers you may need to use plug adaptors for your region such as those shown on our Third Party Products page or contact a local Scalextric retailer.
